You know you're in Hungary when you go to update your blog and everything is suddenly in Hungarian. Luckily I know how to navigate this website well enough because so far the only sentence I've added to my repertoire at this language camp is 'kérek szepen viszet?' (Could I have some water?).
So far I'm loving it here. The people here are the best. I've been hanging out with the girls I met on the way here as well as some others. There's only two other Canadians, Nick and London, but they both seem great. Most people are either American, Brazilian, or Mexican.
We're staying at a campground like place, with little cement bunkhouses. There's a bathroom in each, though holding one's breath is required when using them. The grounds are lovely. There's cement paths everywhere, lined with big trees, the likes of which I've never seen. They have big green maple-shaped leaves and smooth white bark that get rough and brown in patches the closer to the ground it is. There's a big main cement area where we all hang out, and a dining hall along one of the paths. There's a river here, and the whole place is surrounded by fairly sparse forests.
The food is, I'm guessing, traditional Hungarian food. I have yet to find a meal that I really like, although nothing has upset my stomach so far.
We have orientation all today, but so far we've done nothing all day. We've hung out, read. The brazilians usually end up putting on my makeup at some point and dancing ensues. Mostly I've just been too tired to do much of anything active. I'm so jet lagged. Also wifi is spotty at best so contacting people is difficult.
I'll post some pictures of this place here.
Anyways, breakfast is in a half hour! Talk to you soon my darlings!
